Air Canada commemorates its predecessor, Trans Canada Air Lines, formed in 1937, with this latest retro jet. In 1965, the airline was officially renamed Air Canada, having already carried that name for some time in French-speaking regions of the country. The all-new A220 is the successor to an A319 which for 20 years sported a similar retro TCA color scheme, ensuring that the Trans Canada design endures.
